not dead yet
the move is almost over, pausing briefly to celebrate christmas by having mom & dad over for dinner. ISP came by today, so i am back online. more exciting details in the days ahead, i'm sure.

i'm typing this sitting on the radiator of our bedroom, with my feet on our makeshift platform bed. our box spring is still at the old apartment. it may stay there. mr. evil landlord can't seem to find the time to unlock the door at the bottom of the stairs, which, since box springs lack a certain flexibility, is preventing the removal of said box spring from the premises.

snow job
here in long island, we're getting our first snowstorm of the season. current predictions from the weather.com tarot card desk are for 2 - 6 inches on long island, and for 6 - 8 inches in northern new jersey, where my kids live. to quote the national weather service, "ANY TRAVEL IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED. IF YOU LEAVE THE SAFETY OF BEING INDOORS, YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR LIFE AT RISK." yet my children's mother does not understand why i don't want to drive the 50 miles to see them tomorrow.

what else this white stuff means:
1. mouse, who hails from the south, gets to experience her first snowstorm.
2. moving is postponed.
3. we dare not let our white dog outside without a colorful bandana, lest we lose him.
4. all those bloggers in canada reading this will be thinking "wimp."

casualties of moving
1. angel woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. without the furniture in the bedroom, she had no reference point. she made her way to the door, opened it . . .

. . . and walked into the closet.

2. i think i sprained my right butt cheek.

i used to be disgusted. now i try to be amused.
